Lent

I am not Catholic; I've been in Catholic churches half a dozen times in my live, generally for weddings or funerals.  Still, I like the concept of spiritually preparing oneself for Spring, and i often practice my own form of Lent.  One year I gave up elevators.  This year--a bigger challenge--I am giving up self-destructive behavior.

At present, that means that I am on a healthy and moderate diet, getting reasonable amounts of sleep, and refusing to stew about things.  It also means that, when I return to exercise, I will do it in a moderate and reasonable way, not the kamikaze death march version I sometimes choose.  I'm sure more challenges will present themselves.....

that's a great Lenten-esque observance. :) i tend to make it more about denial, because - while i tend to be pretty good (relatively, given how self-destructive i have been in the past) at treating myself well - i can easily slip into using substances to "drug" my pain or stress. caffiene and chocolate being my big two, i usually try to give up chocolate for Lent.

not biting off any heads yet. then again, only day 4. ;)

good luck!!!!
