My 1000 word YA story is currently a bit over 1.200 words, and has external conflict but no internal conflict. So I need to add the internal conflict, then tighten the heck out of it. I think this is doable. Especially considering that 3 hours ago I had zero words written. ;)
I have ideas about the internal conflict, but nothing definite yet. Better sleep on it. Better rename the main character, too, since I think I used that name last assignment....
Starting to see swine flu. Very mild for flu, but surprisingly contagious. If it wasn't new, wouldn't think twice about it, since lots of other common viruses are worse.

I will not procrastinate, I will not procrastinate...

Date: 2009-06-08 12:34 am (UTC)Story got up to just under 1500 words with the additions, then painfully cut it back to 999 words, not counting the title. It may be too sparse now; this story really deserves a little more space, and I'm not sure if the target age group will understand it. Leah didn't--enjoyed it, yes, understood it, no. It's aimed at YA.
