I Blame Retch...Prophecy post-P2.5 story

Clearly this is not my fault. I was just minding my own business, balancing work, kids, call, and the homework assignment due next week, and Retch had to make a comment about thumbing our noses at snooty relatives. And the framework of a story sprang, full-grown, with sword and helmet, into my head.

So...if there is anyone who would reasonably like to attend the Naming Ceremony for the child Alethia has designated her heir, or who would be in Rachenza during the chaos to follow, please email me. It takes place some time in September, this year. Retch has no choice, it's his fault. Lettie really should be there too. The Maddington School For Gifted Children contingent would be very useful. Samarra may be too pregnant to travel, but Alethia'd like her there. (Besides, doesn't she need to go to Rachenza to marry Tlena and Truman?) I figure that Stone will be back on his farm. Could Liana make it? I could use our Aquamancer for a plot point if Selara could justify being there. Any volunteers? Please be aware that Alethia will take unholy amusement in scandalizing her relatives...who have no recourse, because Mama Liisa told her to invite whomever she wished.

Just to be really unreasonable, she'd also invite Iortash On, and Sage Prospera, and the Captain of the ship who brought them back to Arden. Not likely they'd come, but, oh, the fun if they did.... Hmm...would it be presumptuous to invite their majesties, or rude NOT to? And it would be so funny if there were an excuse to get John's elf who was courting Samarra there. "This is the fellow she married? She preferred HIM to ME?!"

OK, if my homework doesn't get done on time, I'm definitely blaming you guys.

Samarra said she'd go to Clarion during the summer to see Truman and Tlena married. if sorely pressed, she will agree to officiate or co-officiate. she will be about 20 weeks pregnant (halfway) by the end of July. so she should still be good to travel into September... given she's carrying twins, and will likely deliver early, she's likely looking at a late October or early Novemeber birth - maybe Gatemarch or Remebrance.

so Rachenza in September could be doable, especially given that Davan and Samarra are going to have to travel back and forth between southern Deepwood and northern Rachenza in any event.

as for John's elf, i admit a teensy temptation to have Davan and i run into him when we get back to Deepwood. heh.

Well, Sevi will be heading to Tlena & Truman's wedding, of course. But if Alethia invited her, and if Tamalasque didn't have other plans, she'd certainly come. :)

I wonder if Sevi will ever find a partner. I don't see her having kids, that's for sure, but if she met the right someone...? Maybe. (Valena did threaten to try to fix her up with someone. :) )

Yeah, Alethia wants to avoid kids about as much as Tlena wants to have and adopt them.

Samarra found him charming. OVERLY charming. which - if you'd been through what she'd been through - would have sent you running off in the opposite direction, too.

he should have had a note pinned to his chest as well "Hi! I followed you from Deepwood all the way to Ramalthy... but your Uncle DIDN'T send me, i SWEAR."

and, in a tower far, far away, Samarra is busily praying to her Goddess that the words "charming elf" and "dalliance" don't pass Liana's lips in front of Davan until AFTER the wedding ceremony. could we all keep him as calm as possible until this is well over? hmmm?

if the word "dalliance" was uttered from Liana's lips, it would be concerning herself. She's been comparing men against Alethia's requirements ever since their conversation.

Liana uttering the word "daliance" concerning herself around her brother who still thinks of her as a teenager and a proper Lady IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM.

here is where Samarra would say, in all seriousness: "I know we talked about a lot of this stuff in jest, and it very much is your life, and I'm a hundred percent behind you living it - you KNOW that, but could we all pretend that nothing has changed, just until we can get past this wedding?"

Liana will figure out a way to explain to her brother that she has changed, drastically, in the last few months. She will wait to explain until after the wedding.

Ack! That piece of knowledge, should it reach Davan's ears, would likely undermine any attempt Alethia makes at ratitional discourse.

Alethia could come get you, but you'd get pulled back home a few hours later. Sevi is the only Wayfinder who can bring people with her to a new place without that unfortunate side effect. Maybe I could bribe her....

This is clearly an illustration of why Retch and Alethia get along so well. He's willing to spar for 30 minutes when she's out of sorts, he makes outrageous comments with a completely straight face, and he agrees with her when she's unreasonable. Does he have any faults?

Alethia is quite willing to talk about dalliance openly--which, Sevi's take aside, is not "sleeping around". It's closer to "serial monogamy". She is, however, quite discriminating when it comes to actually starting a dalliance. And even more so when it looks like a dalliance has the potential to become something more.

And, in direct answer to your question: yes.
