Happiness is...

...getting a 90 minute massage two days after a LARP. Sword arm and support leg both pretty knotted, feeling awesome now. Carrying the shield doesn't seem to have put anything out of whack, but I'm going to have to work on quad and trapezius/triceps/biceps strength if I want to sword and board for P3.

Of course, Dave Minor and John Behnken were the people who really needed massage therapy after this event.... ;>

In other news, I need to buckle down and write my second assignment. The difficulty is that the story I want to write probably can't be done in 1000 words, which intimidates me. I need to just write it, see how long it is, and see if I can get it into parameters...and if not, write something else. (I mean, I have trouble keeping a PEL to 1000 words!)

Of course, there are three children climbing into a second story window in the Royal Palace in Ardenshire right about now, which is distracting me from my purpose....

you know, when Davan gets back from his meeting, tries the door, and finds you all in here, there will be hell to pay... we really need to get Sevi and Valena on board and just get this wedding OVER with.

(btw, i'm thinking it would have been fourth story, at least - topmost tower and all!)

Roth pauses to consider. "I can do it, but I'll need to let the rope down for the younger kids. And Aunt Samarra, of course."

And the door will be locked. First thing you do when you go in the window. What do you think Roth is, an amateur?

the door's already locked - from the outside. you think my fiance would lock me in a room if i could lock him out of it?

now if you're telling me Roth will *bar* the door (chair, something), then i'd say that would be great until Davan busts it down anyway. i'm thinking a Feat of Strength potion on hand just in case *Samarra* tried that.

there's no way to keep Davan out. and no way to get you guys in except coming in the window... IF it's feasible to climb up four stories. maybe it is, i'm trying to plot it realistically though. it would NOT be easy to break into this Palace. even to get on the grounds, though Alethia and Liana have a distinct advantage there, being trusted by the Crown. yet Alethia has blown that one, in a way, by writing to Davan of her intentions, which would have likely gotten her barred from anywhere near Samarra.

Liana is another story, as Davan still thinks of her pretty naively (though that is changing quickly). Samarra thinks she *might* be able to get in, either through the window or through the door.

Roth could do it. He's been doing second story work since he could walk, and the vines will support a child (but not an adult). The others would need the rope.

Now, of course, they didn't ask Tlena about any of this; and Tlena is probably sweetly and gently shredding Davan to bits verbally as we speak...

i think we've timed this well in email, because once Tlena actually got to Ardenshire, and Davan had seen to her comfort (including the kids and Truman) would likely be the time when he'd hand you the letter she sent him in April and probably make you feel a bit chagrined... but probably just as determined to see Samarra and make sure she hadn't changed her mind (she hasn't).

and once you're present,, the wedding will take place with a couple days, at most.

Would it change her mind? Well, she'd certainly be certain he'd lost his mind. She'd read the letter once, then again, then a third time, then gently enquire "So, why exactly do you have her locked in a tower in solitary confinement when she WANTS to marry you? Is this an elven custom I've never heard of before?"

I don't know; if Alethia, in good conscience, asked to talk to their majesties as to why her friend is being held incommudocado, and do they truly mean to force her into this marriage...I think Vanneth and Roderick would have trouble with this. There is a rule of law, Samarra did not violate it, and kidnapping is still a crime. Davan not seeing reason is bothering me; I mean, does he really want to force her? What kind of a man would that make him?

see email. not only did she sign the contract, Samarra sent hima letter in April saying she'd marry him. Vanneth has seen both. plus, of course, they've talked it out at least twice. she's one of the few people Samarra is allowed to see!

she's not being forced to marry, she's just in time out because she did wrong. sort of. it's a delicate balance to make sure that everyone's pride is satisfied.

do you really think any chains could hold Samarra if she didn't want Davan?

Alethia would consider this soberly, then ask if there was any reasonable reason that she couldn't have a supervised visit with Samarra to reassure herself.

Of course, meanwhile the kids have arrived, woken Samarra, and eagerly await her reaction. And when she declines their kind offer, they will be most disappointed, and make for the window. I assume she will recommend that they instead leave by the door...but should Roth pick the lock, or should they all just wait for Davan to come?

i would if Davan would let me near you, but being my vehicle to escape last time (even for noble reasons!) means he's not going to let that happen until the vows are spoken. however, rumors of my imminent matrimony (and Royal confinement) are certainly circulating. and Tlena will be entering the city with Truman and over a dozen orphans in tow, likely within the week.

No rush! Really, I'm supposed to be doing work right now. Tonight we have to go shopping for the weekend, so I'll be busy for most of the evening. :D
