Day 5--At Sea

Monday, February 9th--a Day at Sea
Sunday night I had an amazing dream in which Disney was organizing an evacuation aboard their Space Cruise Line, and I signed on as a doctor to pay our family’s passage. It was very unusual in that, through all the action scenes to get to the Space Ship, I never once lost track of either of the girls, nor Charles. Friends had good cameo roles, so that I knew a lot of fellow nerds would be surviving the approaching apocalypse; one family, who are actually quite private people, actually saved us a room off of theirs. Odd how much the spaceship staterooms resembled the ones on the cruise ship!
Monday morning I woke in time for the sunrise and, remembering it would be visible from our state room, got up and went out on the Veranda. Both girls joined me, then Charles joined us a mere minute or two before the sun peeked over the horizon. Absolutely gorgeous; against the endless expanse of the sea, it appeared to rise visibly, over the course of only a few minutes. It was 68’ at that point, or completely comfortable in jammies.
We went to breakfast at Topsiders, then swam a little--or Joy played in the Mickey pool, Leah swam in the deeper Goofy pool, and Charles and I watched them. After they changed, we took them to the kid’s clubs, and I went back to the Tropical Rainforest Room. That may be a perfect morning; steam out the stress, cool off in the Quiet Cove (adult’s only) pool, which I had to myself 15 of the 20 minutes I swam, then back in to relax a little more in the lovely, lovely heat. Back to the room, and then to pick up the kids for lunch at Lumiere’s, which was very nice. Then we swam again before watching _Bolt_ in 3D at 1:45. It was nice to see the whole thing, although 3D is probably unnecessary. Then the kids went back to the clubs, and I napped a bit until it was time for us to dress for Formal Night.
Charles looked very nice, and I could kick myself that I didn’t get a picture of him. I did get pictures of both girls before dinner, which was nice as Joy fell asleep in her chair 5 minutes into the meal. She looked like a ballet version of Princess Aurora, sitting sideways in her chair with her little shoes peeking out from beneath her skirt, slumped forward so that her golden hair spread out around her, hiding her face. She slept until dessert--an oddly quiet meal!--then woke inconsolably. Charles took her back to the room while Leah and I had dessert. Back at the room, Charles had her in jammies, but she had recovered and was wide awake. After a little discussion, I took both girls to the Golden Mickeys--Leah and I in formal attire, Joy in pajamas.
The Golden Mickeys is an amazing show, mixing some of the most moving and powerful songs and scenes from various Disney films--notably Mulan, Hunchback, and Tarzan. We had excellent seat, center 6th row. All 3 of us loved it, and got back to the room quite late, but happy. Charles, meanwhile, had watched the show on the TV in the cabin, and reported that he enjoyed it, too. Our towel animal Monday was a puppy; I forgot to record the earlier days!
