Travel journal, Day 3
Mar. 4th, 2009 09:34 pmI'm slowly catching up with this. Emphasis on "slowly".
Saturday, 2/7/09
Don and Terri met us for breakfast at Whispering Canyon, where a waiter named Rafael kept Joy in stitches through the meal with mock scowls. We took Don and Terri back to the Villa to show off our upgrade, then it was time to re-pack for the cruise.
Our Mear’s driver was named Erase, and had a DVD player playing “Bolt” which kept the girls entertained. [Monday, on the cruise, we got a chance to watch the whole movie, and in 3D.] It was probably only an hour trip to the terminal, and check in took only minutes. Unfortunately, the line to pick up beepers for the girls was prodigious, as was the line to actually board the ship. By the time we came aboard, it was only a 5 minute wait until our stateroom was ready, so we dropped off our things before heading for lunch. The weather was only a little warmer, with a high near 70’F. Lunch was at Topsider’s, a lovely buffet, then back to the room for a nap before the Emergency drill.
Joy was unhappy with the life jacket, but they were very understanding at the drill, and 15 minutes later we were back at our cabin. We unpacked a little, then dressed for dinner at Parrot Cay, a Caribbean themed restaurant in bright orange, yellow, green and blue.
Our servers are Sameer, from India, and I-ketut from Indonesia--both very nice and very attentive. Sameer has a 5 year old daughter, and cuts Leah’s steak for her. Dinner was very good. Afterwards we dropped by the Kids’ Club briefly, then off to bed.
The room is actually much larger than I expected; with the suitcases under the bed, and the kids beds packed away, it feels larger than a normal hotel room. The balcony is absolutely the best part...sea breazes, warm air, and a view to eternity.
Charles and Leah saw dolphins following us as we left Port Canaveral--a good omen!
