LARP pusher

vdanskJoy is busy doing an Improv routine consisting of singing random phrases, lines from songs, and self-descriptive essays while dancing around the room in her nightgown and lots of beads. Leah is getting ready to start middle-school tomorrow. And I'm contemplating my nefarious ploys as a pusher of LARPs.
I love LARPing; it combines escape from the self with examination of the self in a manner that is fun and cathartic. I have a tendency to try to convert others. My current efforts circle around OZ...which doesn't even have rules posted yet. A one-time event by the amazing Prophecy team, it takes place in a steam-punk Oz 200 years after the Wizard left.
I decided early on that I want to play the "Not Particularly Nice Witch of the West". Next I talked my friend Karen into playing either the "Notably Nice Witch of the North" or the "Nominally Nice Witch of the North". My friend Erica, who hasn't LARPed much since the birth of her son, is contemplating South...perhaps Sickeningly Sweet, perhaps Sinisterly Sweet...one never knows with Erica. And then, Saturday, Karen's husband Steve expressed interest in being the "Extremely Eccentric Warlock of the East"...and we have a whole group. Clearly old friends from the equivalent of the College of Magical Mysteries.
Now all I need is rules, to sucker them in as quickly as possible. :)
