Unexpected Talents
Jan. 19th, 2009 07:26 pmMy daughter is turning into my mother. In the very best possible way.
Last night I became horrifically ill, causing me to call in sick this morning to work. (Considering that I worked a half day in labor, that’s saying something.) This morning, Leah came in, tied my hair back in a scrunchie, brought me ginger ale, and then came back to check on me with that perfect interval that cannot be mathematically determined, but only intuited. I haven’t felt so nurtured since I was her age.
While I still deeply resent throwing up at any time that I am not pregnant--even if those days are now over--I am remarkably cheerful. I had a fabulous weekend, seeing friends and getting a true break at the remarkable Prophecy 2 Winter Feast, and laughing myself nearly to tears on multiple occasions. (Only true friends will work so hard to embarrass you while making you laugh at it yourself.) It is bittersweet knowing that it was my last time playing the terminally-cheerful, utterly innocent, blithely outrageous and brutally honest Tlena, but she went out with a very funny bang. I raise a toast of gingerale to Sir Truman Honest, Viperslayer, and the players and cast that cobbled him into being.
