Of Hope and Fear
Nov. 12th, 2008 09:57 pmI'm having a...difference in opinion with two of my sisters. They see the impossible, and why it cannot happen.
I see that that same impossible is going to happen, and we may as well support it while it does.
My Mom, 81, with failing memory, has broken her arm and hip, and is in rehab. My step Dad, 82, is determined to bring her home as soon as she can transfer safely in and out of a wheelchair.
They don't call theirs the greatest generation for nothing. He is with her from soon after 7 each morning to after 8 each night, and he WILL bring her home, regardless of what anyone thinks or believes. It goes beyond courage, to the simple fact that...he meant the vows he made to her, and will honor them, and her, until death do they part.
It reminds me, rather, of this most recent election. The contest was between hope and fear, between love and hatred.
Once again, I'm siding with hope.
